saturday 8/12/2017 CALL TO ACTIVISM FOR DEMOCRACY!
as white SUPREMACISTS march, we say hate will never win.
"A dozen white marchers clashed briefly with counterprotesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday (August 12) during a rally planned by thousands of white nationalists. The events highlight a persistent debate in the U.S. South over the display of the Confederate battle flag and other symbols of the rebel side in the Civil War, fought over the issue of slavery." (Reuters).
Donald Trump condemned the violence, but STOPPED SHORT "of condemning the racism issue involved in the removal of the Civil War General's statue. The message was retweeted by the official Presidential Twitter account." (The Independent).
Violence is not the answer, but the FAILURE of the Trump Administration and others (including Vice President Pence and Paul Ryan) to address the racism issue is WRONG.

Hello, my name is (YOUR NAME) and I am calling today because I am alarmed by Donald Trump and Paul Ryan's failure to condemn the racism and bigotry that sparked today's White Supremacist Rally. Instead, they chose to focus on the "violence" which was reportedly a minor skirmish.
While violence should not be tolerated, focusing on the skirmish is a sad attempt to frame the issue in a way that avoids the heart of this matter: That a hateful ideology has been emboldened in this country since the election of Donald Trump. Since the 2016 brought focus to anti-immigrant sentiment and islamophobia, there have been a noted uptick in racially motivated violence.
I am calling on my representative to denounce this bigotry and racism, not only the violent skirmish. There is too much at stake.
